Marvin Griffith
Marvin Griffith, 88, of Sebeka, died October 4, 2018, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.
Services were held Oct. 9 at Nimrod Lutheran Church in Nimrod with Pastor Mark Hesse officiating.
Interment will be at Wildwood Cemetery in Pillager.
Arrangements were by Brenny Funeral Chapel, Staples.
Marvin was born January 4, 1930 in Pillager to Vernon and Irene (Rogers) Griffith. He was raised and educated in Pillager. Marvin served in the USAF for two years and then was drafted by the US Army, where he served for eight years. He married Jacqueline Larsen in 1960 in Monterey, CA. They lived in Fort Ord for four years, then moved to Lincoln and dairy farmed from 1965 to 1970. Marvin worked as a carpenter for residential construction, later becoming the head carpenter at Cragun’s Resort. He retired in 1999. Marvin married Adeline Avelsgard in Motley on May 23, 2001. He enjoyed ice fishing, playing cards, cribbage, pinochle, 500, deer hunting and dancing.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Adeline; two sons, Alex (Sue) Griffith of Staples and Allen of Grand Rapids, MI, one daughter, Augie (Todd) Kresge of Kunkletown, PA; step-children, Allan (Josie) Avelsgard of Sebeka, Raymond (Cheryl) Avelsgard of Nimrod, Mary Kay (Mike) Owen of Nimrod; 16 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Vivien (Donna) Griffith of New York Mills; one sister, Charlotte Blank of Clinton, MO; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Duane.
