Maurice Roth was born May 8, 1928, on his parent’s farm on the banks of the West Blue River, near Beaver Crossing, Nebraska to Amos and Phoebe (Roth) Roth.

On February 8, 2022 Maurice left us and went to his Heavenly reward, at the age of 93, at Green Pine Acres, Menahga, Minnesota.

As a young man, Maurice attended Riverview Country School through the 8th grade. Later in life, at the age of 59, he went back to school and got his GED.

On September 18, 1949 he was united in marriage to Eileen Stutzman, of Milford, Nebraska. They made their home in the country southwest of Milford, where they were blessed with three sons: Steven, Brian, and Clark. While living in the Milford community they farmed for a number of years, until they were hit with two tornados and lost many of their possessions. In January of 1959 they moved to Minnesota where they bought a farm north of Staples on the Crow Wing River. After farming for a few years Maurice knew the importance of irrigation, so he purchased the first irrigator in the area. He became involved in Irrigation and was one of the first leaders to start Central Minnesota Irrigation Association which served the central Minnesota farmers in the knowledge and management of irrigation. Later he also helped start the Statewide Irrigation program called Irrigators Association of Minnesota and served as President.

In 1974 Maurice and his three sons started Roth Riverside Farms Inc. and Maurice still did some farming with his son Brian and grandson Nathan.

When they first moved to Staples, they attended the Leader Mission Church and later they attended the Covenant Church north of Staples. When they moved to Wadena and semi-retired they attended the Verndale Alliance Church, currently they were attending the Wadena Alliance Church. He was active in Youth Ministries, Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School, and was on the board of several Churches.

He is survived by his wife Eileen Roth of 72 years, living in Wadena. Sons and daughters-in-law Steve and Donna Roth, of Wadena, Minnesota and their family. Brian and Nancy Roth of Verndale, Minnesota, and their family, and Clark and Theresa Roth of Braddock, North Dakota, and their family.

Maurice and Eileen were blessed with 8 grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild.

Surviving is his brother, Kenneth and Vada Roth, of Dorchester, Nebraska, Carley Roth, of Lincoln, Nebraska, Mary Roth, of Beaver Crossing, Nebraska, Willis and Kathy Stutzman, of Milford, Nebraska, Sharon Stutzman, of Lincoln, Nebraska.
