Michael Daedlow

Michael Daedlow, 73,  passed away March 26, 2022. Mike was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s/Lewy body dementia and peacefully took his last trip to meet his Lord  surrounded by love.

Services for Mike will be held April 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church.

Per Mike’s wishes, his body was donated to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program for medical education.

Michael David Daedlow was born March 14, 1949 in Burlington, Iowa to Betty Jean (Sweney) Daedlow and Gordon Daedlow. He was the eldest of four children including his sister, Eloise (John) Blattner and brothers, Chris (Jodi) Daedlow and Nick (Chrissie) Daedlow. 

Mike attended Tipton Public School graduating in 1967. In 1969 he married Becky Baelitz and together they had two beautiful children: Jason (Lacey) Daedlow and Amy (Doug) Lenz. 

Mike was a foodie and spent a majority of his career in the sales, distribution and eating food. He was employed many years at Family Foods in Tipton, Iowa and, in 1988, moved to Baudette to help manage Ralph and Randy’s Foods.  During that time, he met Anni Estling and they were united in marriage on June 7, 1992. With that marriage, Mike gained two beloved stepchildren, Dana Estling and Karina Estling (Jeff) Kobliska. During the next few years, Mike acquired his associate’s degree in accounting while working at Doug’s Supermarket in Warroad and later moved with the same company to Dollar Savers where he worked until his retirement in 2016. He took a short break from the food industry when he worked as a pharmacy tech at Lakewood Health System in Staples.

Mike loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, Haley Daedlow, Brecken and Bryson Welsh, Eric and Austin Lenz and Jayce and Jorja Kobliska. He looked forward to watching their many activities. He also enjoyed golfing, watching classic movies, cooking and eating, laughing and causing mischief.  Traveling also became one of his favorite pastimes. He and Anni had wonderful adventures in their many travels. 

He is survived by his wife; three siblings; four children and seven grandchildren.  

He was preceded in death by his parents.

n lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Diamond Willow Memory Care Unit of Little Falls, the Alzheimer’s Association or the Salvation Army. 

Arrangements are with the Iten Funeral Home of Browerville.
