Myrtle Elaine Wendt, 75, of Staples, passed away unexpectedly November 30, 2017.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Staples with Pastor Robin Collins officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
Interment will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls.
Arrangements are with the Taylor Funeral Home, Staples.
Myrtle was born June 6, 1942 in Aliceton Township, North Dakota to Charles and Adelaide (Williams) Rourke.
Throughout her life, Myrtle worked in retail, at the lunch counter for Woolworths, Northtown Hallmark; provided administrative support for many of her husband, Gary’s entrepreneurial endeavours, in an administrative role for many years with Kate-Lo Tile & Stone. One of her biggest adventures was traveling aboard the USS General William Mitchell to live in Chitose, Japan. She enjoyed cooking, baking and making gifts.
She is survived by three daughters, Shelli (Michael) Martin of Scott, AR, Dina (Chad) Wuornos of Big Lake and Rhonda (Russ) Ekholm of Staples; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Joanne Erbstoesser of West Fargo, ND; one brother, Jack (Marie) Rourke of Verona, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and three brothers Donald, Charles and Patrick.
