RoseMarie Shequen
RoseMarie Shequen, 88 of Glenwood, died May 1, 2020 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.
Due to governmental restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no public services at this time. A memorial service for RoseMarie will be held once the COVID restrictions have lifted.
Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.
RoseMarie Shequen, was born July 3, 1931 in rural Pequot Lakes, she was the first of three children born to Rudy and Marie (Christensen) Nelson. She grew up in rural Pequot Lakes and attended Maple Hill Lutheran Church and country school. She graduated from Pine River High School in 1949.
On August 13, 1949, RoseMarie married Marvin Shequen in Maple Hill Lutheran Church. They were blessed with two children, Donna and Tom. The couple made their home and many good friends wherever Marvin’s work took them. They first lived in Springfield and southern Minnesota, spent years in Melrose and settled in Glenwood. RoseMarie and Marvin shared 68 years of marriage before Marv passed away June 20, 2018.
RoseMarie worked in retail in Melrose, Alexandria and Glenwood for many years. She was active in her church; as a member and in a leadership role in ladies organizations and Sunday school. While living Melrose, she was a member and officer in the hospital auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards, especially with the Glenwood card ladies. Recently she enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles on her iPad and was especially fond of keeping in touch with her relatives and friends.
RoseMarie loved animals, enjoyed fishing with family and had an excellent memory and people would rely on her to answer questions about the past. RoseMarie will be remembered for being a good cook, a loyal friend and a wonderful mother to her two children.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna (John) Collins of Pine River; sister, Pat Schroers of Burnsville; the children of Doug and Jill Shequen who were like grandchildren to her, Krystal Ferris and her family, Becca and Noah Shequen and Dylan Shequen; other relatives and friends.
RoseMarie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin; one son Tom in 2016 and one brother, Alfred Nelson.
