Scott Meech
Scott Meech, 73, of Staples, passed away March 18, 2024, at his home.
Funeral services were held March 23, at Karvonen Funeral Home in Wadena with Kali Bell officiating.
Military Honors were provided by Elmer Goche V.F.W. Post #3922 of Wadena and the United States Navy Honor Guard of Minneapolis.
Pallbearers were Scott’s grandsons: Michael, Cole, Brandon, Nicoda, Drew, Wyatt, Jace, Levi, Gage, Ryker, and Riggs. Honorary Pallbearer was Scott’s grandson, Cody.
Scott was laid to rest at Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Staples.
Scott was born January 25, 1951, to Clinton Meech and Doris (Elifrits) Meech in Staples. On September 11, 1971, he married Sharon Wynn. Together they raised six children, Kristine (Thomas) Hendershot, Wadena, Jolleen (Scott) Yungbauer, Staples, Angie (Dwayne) Reisenauer, Staples, Scott Jr. (Tammy)Meech, Staples, Lisa Wilkins, Motley, Holly (Adam) Swenson, Watford City. ND.
Scott enlisted in the United States Navy in 1969 where he served in active duty until 1977. He then enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard until he retired in 1980. After his service he went to work as a welder, driving grain truck and spent many years as a truck driver for Russ Davis. He also worked as a mechanic for the business that he purchased in 1999 known today as Scott’s Southtown and continued to run the business until he retired in 2011 at which time his son took over the business.
After retirement he enjoyed riding motorcycle, spending time at his home in New Mexico, camping, spending time with his family on the many adventures he was always up for. His most recent adventure being his ice making endeavor.
He is survived by his children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Arlene; seven siblings, Laura, Sharon, Sue, Colleen, Tim, Joel and Jeff; many nieces and nephews and his AA family.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sharon; parents; father-in-law, James Wynn; one grandson, Cody; four brothers, Roger, Richard, Terry and Jody and three nieces, Judy, Makayla and Darla.
