Shirley Thompson
Shirley A. Thompson, 82, of Staples, died August 10, 2018, at the Lakewood Health Systems Care Center in Staples.
A memorial service was held August 14 at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples with Pastor Carl Larson officiating.
Burial was held at Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Staples.
Arrangements were by Brenny Funeral Chapel of Staples.
Shirley was born Sept. 30, 1935 to Harry and Mamie (Cole) Miller at Bertha. She grew up on a farm south of Staples and graduated from Staples High School in 1953. She later received her Associates Degree in Accounting. She married Willard Redemske on July 20, 1957, at the Staples United Methodist Church. They made their home in Staples and she worked at the Staples State Bank for 33 years, retiring in 1996. Willard died May 23, 1982.
She married Wallace Thompson on July 1, 1995 at the Staples United Methodist Church. Following her retirement, they wintered in Arizona. She enjoyed square dancing, gardening, and playing cards. While in Arizona, they ushered at football games at Arizona State University as a Lion’s Fundraiser.
She is survived by her husband, Wally Thompson of Staples; three sons, Mark (Paula) Redemske of Maple Lake, Craig (Jodi) Redemske of Maple Grove and Ronn Redemske of Staples; one daughter, LeAnn (Brian) Haroldson of Mt. Horeb, WI; 11 grandchildren and one brother, Carroll (Donna) Miller of Bertha.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Eldon Miller, Derald Miller and Blayne Miller; one sister, Arlene Conley; husbands, Willard Redemske and Harold Falk.
