Stanley Widmer

Stanley Wayne Widmer, 87, of Staples passed away September 21, 2024, peacefully surrounded by family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples on Friday, October 4, at noon. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Interment will be held October 7 at Lakeview Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. 

Stan was born in Oshkosh, WI to Albert and Mabel Widmer. Stan graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1955. He married Paula Larson in Oshkosh in 1958.  Stan attended college in Milwaukee where he completed a degree in Industrial Design. Stan proudly served in the United States Army Reserves for 10 years as an M-48 Tank Commander.  

Stan and Paula moved to Minneapolis in 1962 where Stan worked at Graco for ten years before launching his design consulting business in 1972. In 1979, he moved his business to Staples where he and Paula raised their children residing in a home he built on the west shore of Fawn Lake south of Staples.  Stan and Paula continued to run their business, Widmer Associates, for the next several decades serving clients from all over the United States. Stan was awarded dozens of patents for his innovations in mechanical design and was awarded a contract with the United States Department of Defense on a project following the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States.   

Stan will be missed by one daughter, Amy (Darin); one son, Scott; six grandchildren, Trevor, Andrew, Ashley, Megan, Thomas and Jonathan; several nieces and nephews and Lookalike the cat.  

Stan was preceded in death by his loving wife, Paula, of 59 years; parents; one brother, Ken Widmer, one sister, Joyce Christian and one daughter-in-law, Jill Widmer.

Arrangements are by the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples.
