Vic went into the open arms of his Lord and Savior on November 3, 2025. Vic sailed on peacefully in his sleep at the Veterans home in Fergus Falls, the place he called home since April, 2022. Vic enjoyed the camaraderie there with his fellow Veterans, playing bingo, going on outings and keeping staff on “his schedule.”

Vic lived an adventurous life leaving this earth at 97 years old. At age 15-1/2, he left home, worked his way across the North Dakota wheat fields making his way to Everett, WA. While there he worked for Boeing Aircraft, then joined the Merchant Marines and later the U.S. Navy. Vic served with honor, participating in the Pacific Theater during WWII and the Korean War. He traveled the world, kept the boiler room running and earned the nickname “Honest Abe” from his shipmates. Vic was truly a man who loved his country and was willing to lay down his life for it. Vic’s benevolence was evident in the many organizations he belonged to locally and nationally.

While home on leave he married Delores Jane Mohler on May 18, 1948 in Wadena. It was a small ceremony and he returned to duty after their honeymoon to complete his service. Vic and Delores raised their family mostly in Stillwater, then San Diego, CA. Later in retirement Vic returned home to Motley. While in Minnesota, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering and building things.

Vic is survived by two daughters, Linda Winters and Jill Flansburg; one son, Gary Flansburg; six grandchildren, Keli (Andrew)  Romine, Kurtis Flansburg, Cameron (Rachael) Winters, Gavin Mencel, Brock Mencel and Chase Mencel; six great-grandchildren, Hunter, Jayce, Rylan, Adelyn, Bethany and Cody; three brothers, Robert (Bob) Flansburg, Lloyd Flansburg (Jackie) and Richard (Pat)  Flansburg, many nieces, nephews and great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Vivian (Sis) Dickman and his wife of 43 years, Delores Flansburg.

Vic was a Son, Brother, Husband, Uncle, Dad, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. He is gone from our sight but never forgotten in our hearts.

Additional arrangements provided by Brenny Family Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
