Walter Charles Gaugert, 74, of Eagan passed away October 9, at his home.
Walt was laid to rest at the Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples on Oct. 20 surrounded by family members. Pastor Carl Larson of Faith Lutheran Church, Staples was the officiant.
Walt graduated from Staples High School and moved to the Minneapolis area soon after (1961-62). He worked in a machine shop for two years followed by 28 years at Control Data in computer sales. After retirement he enjoyed many years of umpiring softball and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, helping on the family farm, boating and playing on various softball teams.
He is survived by one daughter, Toni (Jeff) Rathman and one son, Chad Gaugert; three grandchildren Cory, Kyle and Emma; two brothers and four sisters: Glenna Fuller, Myrna (Skip) Meinhardt, Arvid Gaugert, Linda (Steve) Babcock, Steve (Rita) Gaugert, Nancy (Chris) Matek; many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Eleanora Gaugert.
