Walter (Wally) G. Hed, 88, of Cambridge died February 9, 2021.
Memorial services to celebrate his life will be held this summer.
Wally ministered at Scarsdale, NY, Clinton, MD, Bermuda and Champlin. He ministered at Anoka Treatment Center and served as a military chaplain in the National Guard, retiring as Full Colonel. In retirement he worked, volunteered and counseled into his 80’s at Hazelden, Moose Lake Prison and Cambridge Lutheran.
Wally cared deeply for people and had a gift for making anyone feel loved and welcome. He listened and brought the best out of anyone. He loved adventure, travel, learning, nature, the environment and was physically active into his 80’s, cross country ski racing and biking.
Wally is survived by three children, Kathy (Jeff) Iverson, Staples, Steve (Jennifer) Hed, Putney, VT and Paul (Michelle) Hed, Ham Lake; nine grandchildren, Becki, Kirsti, Lynnea, Jenessa, Natasha, Naomi, Noah, Mikayla and Samantha; four great-grandsons, Milo, Solomon, Amari and Rocky and his close friend, Chris Misewich of Cambridge and her family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Charlotte and five siblings.
