Yvonne was born August 29, 1929 in Lamberton, to August and Verna (Gode) Redemske. On June 7, 1950, she married Phillip Dickman. Prior to beginning her career as a homemaker, she spent three years employed in the local community.  Her accomplishment during her career included raising 10 children, 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.  She had many interests and activities that spanned many years. In the 60’s/ 70’s, her focus was on teaching her children the art of business, by raising and selling vegetables every summer at a roadside stop. As the children aged, her interest moved to that of being a seamstress for a local shop, producing garments for sale.  This brought her back to early adulthood where she first learned to sew.  As time went on, so did her interests which brought us to the craft era. Her crafting days encompassed various forms.  She spent many years attending weekly gatherings with others painting ceramics that she proudly displayed for others to see or gave to her children so that her grandchildren could enjoy the fruits of her love and talents. If you were not one of the fortunate ones to receive her ceramics, maybe you got to enjoy the various ornaments she created.  Yvonne spent time creating new craft items to sell at the local fairs and stores in the central Minnesota area. Beginning in 1982, Yvonne took up the role of providing service to others through her leadership of the quilting program within the Women’s Church of Christ group.  She served in this capacity for 30 years. This group provided 1000’s of quilts for the needy and unprivileged and the high school graduates of the church. She changed the countryside around us with perennials raised and sold at her annual plant sales. At first, helping other growers in the area with their sales to beginning in 2003 selling from her home east of Staples. Each year her inventory consisted of at least 1,500 plants. While her ability to put together a successful sale this year was a challenge due to her health, her training of her children in years past, made for yet another very successful year.  What made this even more exciting was her desire to go out and visit with the many people who had frequented her prior sales. With flowers being a spring/summer activity, she found the need to again tap her creative mind and this time making cards became a newfound passion. Over the last 18 years, she created many beautiful cards that found their way into the homes of many, either by being the benefactor or purchasing a lot that carried the stamp “Created by Yvonne”.  Through all of this, one can see the many talents that was bestowed on Yvonne and how she worked through God’s grace providing others the opportunity to have their days brightened.

Yvonee is survived by seven children: Duane (Debbie) Dickman, Staples, Kevin (Ann) Dickman, Colleyville, TX, Carl Dickman, Danbury, WI, Douglas Dickman, Staples, Audrey (Barry) Clough, Cambridge, Darla (Brad) Farley, Bryon Center, MI, Donna (Dale) Doublestein, Grandville, MI; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Vera Dickman, Forest Lake and Diane Dickman, Staples; brother-in-law Arthur Dickman, Fairbanks, AK.
