Letter to the Editor

City of Motley tax dollars

The City of Motley has lost another employee - Terri Smith, the city clerk/treasurer.

In the last year or so the city has lost one chief of police, two police officers, one deputy clerk and one attorney. The city now has one police chief, one part-time police officer, no deputy clerk and no clerk/treasurer, but they have money to hire an expensive attorney.

The city will be paying $30 per hour to have an interim city clerk. As part of Terri’s separation agreement the city will also be paying her regular salary of $2,007.20 every two weeks through October.

How is our city council saving us money? Wake up, people, they are costing us a lot of our tax money. We need to call our council members and go to the meetings and tell them that we do not like the way they are spending our tax dollars.

Friday, June 10, is Terri’s last day as city clerk. Stop in and thank her for the 16 years she has given to the City of Motley. If you notice that city hall has not been open, call your council members and ask them why.

Hope to see you at the next council meeting June 13 at 6:30 p.m.
