Looking forward to a great new school year

Staples-Motley Schools

Welcome back to the 2016-17 school year! We are ready and looking forward to our first day of school - Tuesday, September 6!

After serving one year as your superintendent, I am more excited than ever about the terrific things that are happening in our communities and district, as well as our future.

I want to thank the communities of Staples and Motley. I have felt and appreciated a spirit of overwhelming support from almost everyone I have met. I am also grateful for the Staples-Motley staff. I am surrounded by such good people who are loyal and dedicated to their school, have a heart for our students and a sound work ethic that shines through each and every day.

This year our “Re-Start” program really begins. This program provides students an opportunity to get to know each other in kindergarten instead of sixth grade. Our teachers at each grade level will be all together to collaborate and plan an equitable, high-quality education for our students. We now have the pieces in place to work toward our 2020-21 vision: “We are a community united to become the region’s school district of choice.”

In preparation for next week, bus routes for Staples-Motley School District have been set, and your bus driver either will be or will have already contacted you with estimated pickup and drop off times.

As promised, we will have paras riding the elementary shuttle bus from Motley as long as needed. One big adjustment we are excited about is the exchange in Staples will take place at the elementary front (east) parking lot. We have increased the size of the parking lot to accommodate buses. This change will ensure the safest possible exchange.

Parents who drop off and/or pick up their children will do so at the back of the school (west) parking lot. Norby Klimek, our transportation supervisor asked me to remind parents to make sure their address in Skyward is up-to-date. The better information Norby has to create the routes, the more efficient and accurate for students, bus driver and families.

We are looking forward to a great new school year!

It’s a great time to be a Cardinal!
