Staples Annual City Cleanup day is June 3
Mark your calendars.The City of Staples is hosting the annual Staples Area Cleanup Day Friday, June 3, 3-7 p.m. at the city street shop/compost site area (12th St NE).
All township residents surrounding Staples are welcome to utilize this service.
The Staples Area Cleanup Day is designed to allow city and area residents to easily and affordably dispose of unwanted items such as; building materials, old appliances, garbage, electronics and other “collectibles”. Last year Staples area residents disposed of over 15,000 pounds of junk, 45 televisions, 13 microwaves, 11 monitors, 25 appliances and countless other things.
Crews from Long Prairie Sanitation, SW Recycling and the city will be on hand to assist in unloading vehicles and trailers.
The 2016 disposal fees will be:
o FREE: Appliances (dishwashers, dryers, furnaces, microwaves, water heaters, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, refrigerators, freezers etc.) car batteries, scrap metals
o $0.10 per pound to dispose of refuse and junk
o $15 TV or monitor
o $10 electronic item
o $1 Fluorescent tubes
o Car tires: $4/tire
o Pickup truck tires: $5/tire
o Semi-truck tires: $7/tire
o Tractor tires: $13/tire
Remember that household hazardous waste (paints, thinners, old bleach, chemicals, etc.) cannot be accepted and transferred during this event. Take these items directly to the Browerville station.
If you have questions, regarding a particular item is able to be disposed of, please call me at 894-2550 ahead of time. A reminder to form the line on 12th St, not Michigan Avenue. We will open the gate at 3 p.m.
