Poplar Township will meet at 6:00 p.m. at the Leader Hall the first Tuesday of each month from May, 2017 through February, 2018 (except July 11 at 6:00 p.m. and November 14 at 6:00 p.m.)
The April meeting will be held Tuesday, April 4 at 1:00 p.m.
Road Review will be Saturday, April 15 starting at 9:00 a.m. at the Leader Hall.

city of staples NOTICE of second and final reading oF ordinance
NOTICE is hereby given that the Staples City Council gave an ordinance its first reading establishing a local lodging tax of three percent (3%) on the rent charged for providing taxable lodging and lodging-related services after June 1, 2017. The ordinance provides for the collection, reporting and payment of the tax to the City by lodging operators. Ninety-five percent (95%) of the taxes collected shall be used to fund a Tourism Promotion Committee to market and promote the City as a tourist center. A complete text of the proposed ordinance is available at City Hall for public inspection.
The second and final reading will be considered at the March 28, 2017 Staples City Council meeting.

If you believe the value or classification of your property is incorrect, please contact your assessor’s office to discuss your concerns. If you disagree with the valuation or classification after discussing it with your assessor, you may appear before the local board of appeal and equalization. The board will review your assessments and may make corrections as needed. Generally, you must appeal to the local board before appealing to the county board of appeal and equalization.
