has applied to Todd County and MPCA to construct an additional livestock housing component and expand animal units for a feedlot with a capacity of 500 animal units or more.
The feedlot is located in the SE ¼ of Burnhamville TWP Section 16, T128N, R32W, Todd County, Minnesota. Currently, the feedlot is registered for 300 dairy cows over 1,000 lbs. (420 AU), 100 bred heifers/ mature cows under 1,000 lbs (100AU), 100 heifers at 700lbs (70AU), 150 beef feeders at 70lbs (105AU) and 100 calves at 200 lbs. (20AU) for a total of 715 animal units. The site also has a 107’ x 313’ and a 308’x168’ earthen manure storage basin. Solid manure is stored as on floor manure packs.
The proposed expansion will consist of a 127’ x 232’ total confinement barn to house milk cows. After the expansion there will be 600 mature dairy cows over 1,000 lbs. (840AU), 83 heifers under 1,000 lbs. (83AU), 84 heifers at 700 lbs. (58.8 AU) and 86 calves at 200 lbs.(17.2AU.) Manure will be stored in two (2) 107’ x 313’ and a 308’x168’ earthen manure storage basins. Solid manure is stored as on floor manure packs.
The total animal units will be 999 after the expansion.
This publication shall constitute as notice to each owner of real property within 5,000 feet of the perimeter of the proposed feedlot.
