Mixed results in tennis matches
The Staples-Motley tennis team cruised through two matches on Sept. 20, beating Wadena-Deer Creek 6-1 and Crosby-Ironton 7-0. They then placed third in the Litchfield Invite on Sept. 24.
At the tournament, Izabella Edin and Sam Schimpp won their brackets. Edin defeated players from Owatonna, Litchfield and Crookston, winning the championship match 8-3. Schimp beat players from Benson, Litchfield and Owatonna, winning 8-1 in the final.
