New faces for wrestling team

The Staples-Motley wrestling team competed with a depleted lineup at the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Invitational on Jan. 6.

Illness and injuries allowed a few wrestlers to get their first varsity experience and others had their first varsity win.

Two Cardinals made it to the finals, Spencer Miller was second at 120 pounds and Alex Erpelding scored three pins in winning the 182 pound bracket.

Staples-Motley placed last in the eight team tournament and will try to get healthy for the upcoming schedule.
