Sweeney wins CC race
Kira Sweeney earned a first place medal at the Pine River Backus cross country meet on Sept. 13, as both the girls and boys teams had solid performances to finish second.
The teams both fell back a little bit at their next meet at New London-Spicer on Sept. 19.
At Pine River, Sweeney ran 18:45 to win on a course that may have been slightly shorter than 5,000 meters. Addison Lorber and Ameara Chenoweth also ran well.
For the boys, Emmet Anderson and Hunter Klimek were in the top ten, with Ben Bartczak, Tanner Robben and Coleman Klimek not far behind. The boys team narrowed the gap between their top five runners, with a season low 1:41 at Pine River and 1:49 at New London-Spicer.
