Trantina, Kossan, Uhlman combine hits for SB victory
Down one run with one out in the final inning against Pillager on April 29, Jenna Trantina hit a bloop single, then scored when Lisa Kossan crushed a triple all the way to the fence. Quinn Uhlman hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Kossan and giving the Staples Motley softball team a 12-11 come from behind win.
The Cardinals started the game with control problems and errors, as pitcher Carly Smith walked several runners in the first inning. But she settled down and the Cardinal bats brought them back over the next few innings, until the final inning heroics.
Smith was the winning pitcher, Uhlman had four hits, including a double, and Trantina had two hits.
Earlier in the week, the Cardinals beat Crosby-Ironton twice in a doubleheader on April 26, 17-7 and 22-5. Smith was the winning pitcher for both games.
In the first game, Trantina had two hits, including a double, and Kossan had two hits, one of them a triple.
In game two, Uhlman had four hits, scored four runs and had 7 RBI. Trantina had two hits and scored four runs while Smith had two hits.
