Wrestlers advance in section playoffs

The Staples-Motley wrestling team recorded 10 pins and two forfeits in defeating Breckenridge 72-12 in the first round of the Section 6A tournament on Feb. 14.

The Cardinals will now face third seeded Barnesville on Friday, Feb. 17, at 6 p.m. at Breckenridge High School. The winner of that match will wrestle for the section championship that same evening, at 8 p.m.

Top seed West Central Area and fourth seed New York Mills are the teams in the other semifinal matchup.

The individual section tournament will be Saturday, Feb. 25, at Wheaton High School.
