Young runners close to the front
The Staples-Motley cross country teams opened their season at a meet in Menahga on Aug. 19. Both teams finished fourth and both were led by eighth grade runners. Kira Sweeney placed second in the girls race and Emmet Anderson was sixth for the boys.
