Sticker Shock reminder, Social Host Ordinance
The holidays are when families and friends gather, and members of the Todd county Citizens Against Drugs (CAD) coalition were busy this holiday season reminding people about the county’s Social Host Ordinance (SHO). The Social Host Ordinance makes it a crime to knowingly host a party where underage drinking occurs. CAD’s ‘Sticker Shock’ program had the Staples group busy placing sticker ‘reminders’ of the SHO on paper bags.
The bags were used by local liquor stores who used the bags when consumers purchased liquor. The Sticker Shock program has been in Todd County for a couple of years, but this was the first time it was held in Staples. Plans are to have another Sticker Shock event this spring during prom season.
Todd County CAD is always looking for more members. Meetings are currently held monthly in both Staples and Long Prairie, with plans to expand to other communities. For more information contact Connie Burns at connie.burns@co.todd.mn.us or 320-732-2221.
